Donna the Buffalo in Victor, ID!

Posted in Daily Grind, Road Trips on August 27th, 2009

Yes I make a habit of getting very excited whenever Donna the Buffalo comes anywhere close to Salt Lake City (or to SLC itself, which they do about once a year it seems, at least lately anyway). Here are a few related posts on SBP about our favorite band:

At any rate, I was checking out their site a couple of weeks ago to see if by chance they were coming around. When we were back east recently we had the chance to catch them in Rochester but we couldn’t swing it. I honestly didn’t think I would get to see them this summer, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that their tour schedule updated to include one show in Idaho, and one in Missoula, MT at the River City Roots Festival.

On Friday afternoon we’re off for Victor. Grandma and Grandpa McKenney are watching Ellie and the mutts for the night, which works out well because they live at about the half way point on the drive north. A big thanks to them again for the help. It’s going to be a special night as we splurged on a room at the Fox Creek Inn B&B in Victor. I’ll update the blog when we get back…hoping to get a few pics this time.

Powder on the brain..

..contributes to stuffy and sleepless summer nights. In fact just tonight I was laying there restless, thinking about powder skiing. I went to my Facebook acct because no sleepy for me, and on my feed page I saw that Jeff had just posted a new clip on Youtube earlier in the night. It’s below for all to enjoy. Highway 210 Part 1

Yeah, you might want to keep an eye out for part 2… ;)

A Trike..

Ellie got a new tricycle for her birthday. She stood up to get a better look at the rhythm dirt jumps, from higher vantage point, before she started sessioning the line ;)

My Gang Likes Deep Powder Snow

Posted in Daily Grind, Web Marketing on August 21st, 2009

Some time ago (measurable in the “years” category), I threw together a Squidoo lens all about powder & fat skis. It’s been sitting there neglected by me…yet with a respectable amount of traffic, especially in the winter months. Yessir ever since I can remember I have been in the top 5 serps in Google for the term fat skis! It’s been a pretty cool experiment to say the least.

Well I did a little updating to my fat skis lens today to highlight some new features, and link to some stuff at this blog. Looking pretty good if I do say so myself. Oh, and now the rants of yours truly @ Ski Bum Poet will syndicate to my lens.

Maybe you’ve heard of Squidoo but never checked it out. Maybe you’re like what the hell is he talking about already. Either way, if you’re a web marketer, build a Squidoo lens using all the basic SEO knowledge you have (target KWs in URL and headline of page, strategically link in and out of your lens, etc.)…then point some links to your web site(s) for some good link juice.

Disclaimer: I used a lot of Squidoo lenses a few years back to drive traffic. I can’t say I am up to speed on everything over there now, but I do know some of my lenses rank damn good still, driving traffic and helping other sites build more link authority.

Ellie Sending It

Not even two years old yet, and she’s sending it off the dock. Ellie had a blast swimming the days away. Here’s a great picture Danette took during our summer vacation on Keuka Lake..in central New York.

Patagonia Summer Sale

Posted in Gear Deals, Outdoor Gear on August 12th, 2009

Hey everyone just a quick heads up that Patagonia.com is having their summer sale now through August 20th. Looks like some killer savings on their clothing. It just started, so there is good inventory left. Keep in mind this is direct from Patagonia on their “web specials” page, so you will not find better prices on the web (or anywhere, for that matter) for the same products. I added a banner so click that and you’ll be taken to the sale page.
