The Alta Experience
KUED and the University of Utah will be airing a documentary on Wednesday, December 3rd at 7pm (repeats at 8:30pm) called “The Alta Experience”.
Celebrating the 70th anniversary of Alta Ski Resort, a new KUED documentary transports viewers to a mountain town with a history richer than its silver mining past. This colorful glide down memory’s slope features interviews of those who remember the first chairlift in Utah and the personalities who developed early powder skiing techniques. Using archival movies, early photographs, and stunning contemporary aerial footage, this one-hour program chronicles the generations who have carved fresh lines in Alta’s famous untracked snow. Length: 55 minutes, 56 seconds.

Utah has been on my list of places to experience, for winter and summer for a long time. I would love to know if this doco is available for viewing anywhere.

OK, I have some info on where you can get this DVD. Not sure if I missed it before or not, but on KUED’s interactive trail map for this feature, there’s a link in the lower right corner for more info… And once on that page there’s another link for Where to Buy. To get a hold of this will require a $75 donation to KUED, but IMO it’s worth it. And the donation goes to a great cause.
Sarah, I think we’ll be getting one, and when we do, we’ll send it to you to watch. Maybe we’ll have it for the xmas visit.
